Printable lined paper

College ruled, wide ruled, or handwriting paper with a dashed midline — at the real spacings, not an approximation.

Settings

Wide ruled is 8.7 mm between lines, college ruled is 7.1 mm and narrow ruled is 6.4 mm. Those are the actual US paper standards, and they are the presets here.

Handwriting mode adds the midline and descender guides that early writers need, with the dashed middle line they are taught to aim at.

Questions

What is the difference between college and wide ruled?

Line spacing. Wide ruled is 8.7 mm and is used in primary school; college ruled is 7.1 mm and fits about four more lines on a page.

Can I add a margin line?

Yes, on the left, the right, or both, at whatever offset you set.

What are the dashed lines for?

Handwriting practice. Lower-case letters sit between the baseline and the dashed midline; capitals and ascenders reach the top line.
